It could prove to be a symbiotic relationship. Once you have drained a rat of its blood, your feline companion could consume the remains. Likewise, they could help you catch rats in places beyond your reach, and bring them to you.

It's almost worse that you talk about it so openly.
[ Astarion groans at the thought. He'll joke about rats (he loves dark humor) all day long, but it's its own macabre coping mechanism. The reality is that it makes sea travel practical unbearable for him, and that every time, without fail, it reminds him of Cazador. Better than bugs, perhaps, but not by much. ]

[ He's bad at metaphor and misdirection, but he'll keep in mind to be less... direct. Even when it's just them. Frostbite has no idea what a vampire is, so she just thinks Xenk is weird. ]

[ This is said with the tone of "I'm not a child," as if Xenk has implied he's a terrible hunter. And with that assertion, Shadowlily finally saunters over and starts to rub her head up against his knee, apparently deciding she'll take him after all. ]

[ Ok they have arrived at a pet store! Astarion heads in first and then Shadowlily goes wandering off to find what she wants. Astarion follows, of course. ]

Xenk continues to follow the three of them, though Frostbite it quick to grab his attention as she goes off another way. It seems she wants him to follow her to the collar section, where she finds the most garish, bedazzled collar that's available. She's practically about to knock it down before Xenk gets there and picks her up into his arms. ]
You need but ask, and I will get it for you. One moment.
[ Yes, he's getting her the bedazzled collar. It has three whole bells on it, and jingles very loudly. ]
Perhaps a toy with bells would suit, and match nicely with this new collar.
[ Time to find Astarion first though, he did come all this way so they could shop together. ]
