Anyway, you've actually touched on the real heart of the problem! Probability is the only one that has to do with chances — trying to determine the likelihood of each outcome, based on all the information we have. And we never have all the information. The world is too big and full of too many variables to account for them all. That's chaos theory, in a nutshell.

For instance, what would happen if you got rid of Eggman? Would that really end all our problems? Would you keep destroying threats, until there's nothing left that's more dangerous than you?

I'd rather look at things through the lens of possibilities. If anything can happen, then we'll just have to be ready for the worst that Eggman can dish out — or any other bad guys, for that matter.
